China Mobile has confirmed to the media that its Chairman, Xi Guohua, met with Apple CEO Tim Cook this week at the mobile operator’s headquarters in Beijing.

The confirmation reportedly came from the operator itself, which told Reuters in an emailed statement that “The meeting with China Mobile Chairman Xi Guohua in Beijing was to discuss matters of cooperation,” and not a single thing more.

Which means we can speculate at will, including the possibility that China Mobile’s 700 million customers will be greeted by two new iPhones starting this year.

Apple is said to be working on multiple iPhone versions for unveiling this year, one of which is made of plastic and sells for a reasonable price, while the other looks a lot like the iPhone 5 but has a fingerprint sensor underneath its Home button.
