News from China says that, over the past ten months, the country has been installing green energy capacity at twice the rate recorded back in 2012.

Thus, China's National Energy Administration has announced that, within said time frame, the country's green energy capacity upped by 36 gigawatts.

According to Yale Environment, heavy investments were made in harvesting hydroelectric power. More precisely, 22.3 gigawatts of the country's new energy output comes from this green source.

3.6 gigawatts come from solar power, 7.9 gigawatts come from wind, and 2.2 gigawatts are due to increased nuclear power, the same source details.

The National Energy Administration estimates that, by the end of 2013, China's solar capacity might be thrice its 2012 levels. Wind and nuclear power capacity, on the other hand, are expected to up by 22% and 17%, respectively, when compared to 2012 levels.

Should the country continue investing in harvesting renewables and environmentally-friendly energy sources, it might have a chance at solving its air pollution crisis at some point in the future.
