China Gets the Galaxy S Treat with Three New Samsung Smartphones Announced

One of the biggest telecom markets in the world, the Chinese market has just received three brand new Galaxy S devices. Samsung has recently announced officially, that some of its already leaked Galaxy S smartphones will be available in China from three major carriers, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom.

The announcement, made today during a Galaxy S launch event at the China World Exhibition in Beijing, doesn't come as a surprise, as the three Galaxy S devices were already planned for the Chinese market and information about its specs already surfaced the Internet in the past.

The three new Samsung Galaxy S devices that will soon be available on the Chinese market, I909, I9008 and I9088, differentiate themselves through specs and look.

“China is one of the fastest growing mobile markets and offers great potential. I am very pleased to introduce Samsung Galaxy S, which has been customized for the needs of Chinese consumers. I hope that Chinese consumers will enjoy the real value of the smart mobile experience with Samsung Galaxy S,” said JK Shin, President and Head of the Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

The main features, common to all three Galaxy S smartphones are as follows: 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen, 5.0- megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The features that differ are carrier dependent, and may weigh heavily on the attractiveness of the smartphones. Still, I thing the more options users get the higher the chance that their needs will be satisfied.

So, here are some of the carrier dependent features of the three Samsung Galaxy S device: the China Telecom version (I909) features dual-standby supporting CDMA and GSM bands; the China Mobile version (I9008) runs on TD-SCDMA with OPhone 2.0 platform and features CMMB Mobile TV service; the China Unicom version (I9088) features WCDMA support and looks similar to AT&T’s Captivate.
