Chinese officials are denying the accusations from a recent report on ABC’s Four Corners program according to which Chinese hackers stole valuable information from several Australian organizations, including the blueprints to the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation’s (ASIO) new headquarters in Canberra.

“China opposes all forms of hacker attacks. This is a worldwide problem. Though these reports seems solid, given that it is difficult to find the origin of such hacker attacks, I don't see where the real evidence is for reports like this,” said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei, cited by ABC.

“This is a global problem which needs an even-tempered discussion involving regulations. Groundless accusations will not help solve this issue,” he added.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Bob Carr refused to confirm the Four Corners allegations and the country’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard, whose office was one of the alleged targets of the Chinese hackers, named the report as being inaccurate.
