A 20-month-old chimpanzee at Myrtle Beach Safari is best friends with a 9-week-old lynx that's also living at this animal sanctuary.

Their caretakers say that Varli, as the chimpanzee is named, simply loves spending most of its time with Sutra, the baby lynx. The two cuddle as often as they get the chance.

Sometimes they even sleep side by side, Daily Mail reports.

“It's a natural friendship. Varli gives Sutra the ability to have so much more adventure. He lives with him around the clock,” park Director Dr. Bhangavan Antel reportedly told the press.

Oddly enough, this is not the first time when Varli, the young chimpanzee, befriends someone belonging to an entirely different species.

Its caretakers say that, earlier this year, it started hanging out with a baby grizzly bear named Bam Bam. Unfortunately, this friendship did not last long.
