It seems that the recent troubles surrounding Intel's newest platform are not exactly enough to stop the flow of new PCs completely, as proven by iBuyPower, whose Chimera XLC gaming PC has now started selling.

Back in early January, around the same time when AMD and Intel each showed off their respective CPU lines, quite a few new systems were announced.

Not all the new PCs became immediately available, however, and they really were just additions to all the existing systems that just got updated in terms of hardware options.

Of those that were newly launched, the Chimera XLC from iBuyPower has only now become available, at a price in tune with its role as top-grade gaming machine.

Its central piece is an Intel Core i7-870 CPU, whose clock speed is of 2.93 GHz and which can be boosted by 30%, in exchange for a price premium of $99.

Said chip is backed up by 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and complemented by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 it DirectX 11 graphics card.

Other specifications include an HDD of 1.5 TB. A power supply of 700W and a DVD writer with a speed of 24x.

In addition to the one above (Chimera XLC-E), iBuyPower has also prepared the Chimera XLC-V, which is significantly stronger.

It has a 3.33 six-core GHz Core i7-980X chip, two GeForce GTX 470 cards in SLI, three storage units (two 80GB SSDs in RAID 0 and a 2TB HDD), 12 GB of RAM and an ODD (10x Blu-ray or 24x DVD), plus a PSU of 1200W.

The above sets of hardware devices are packed inside the Chimera Inferno 3 full tower case and are kept at low temperature by liquid cooling.

Finally, they are pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 and can be found here, priced at $1,599 (Chimera XLC-E) and $4,499 (Chimera XLC-V).
