A children’s charity in Palmira, Colombia, has created the world's largest rag doll and named it Nana.

Foundation for a Better World (Fundación Mundo Mejor) built the giant rag doll, which stands at 6.50 m (21 feet) tall and is more than two times larger than the world's tallest man, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Colombia's National Day of Childhood (Feria Nacional de la Niñez y su Mundo, as they call it in Spanish). The event has been first organized in Palmira in 2004.

According to Huffington Post, the doll is built on a skeleton made of bamboo and steel, and is placed on a concrete foundation. Its body is filled with cloth, while the hair is made by fibers from the local fique plant.

As it turns out, two university students came with the idea for the bold attempt, and various public and private groups of volunteers participated in the doll’s construction effort, including groups from the National University of Colombia and Antonio Nariño University.

Nana managed to easily beat the previous world record, which was set in Genoa, Italy in 2005, with a rag doll that measured 4.62 m (15 feet, 2 inches). Nana surpassed it by nearly 2 m (6 feet 6 inches).

All proceeds from the unveiling ceremony were donated to the charity foundation.
