Multiple people can view things at once, from different angles, no eyewear needed

Hitachi announced a new 3D technology, one that involves a projector generating a 3D image overlayed on top of a real world object, to enable perspective.

Granted, the company did not use the most fortuitous of images in its demonstration, since one can easily consider an unhatched baby chick to be a somewhat disturbing sight.

Nonetheless, the outfit made its point, showing the possibility of rendering a 3D image which, even without the aid of special glasses, can be viewed from multiple angles.

In fact, the viewing angle is adjusted based on what built-in sensors detect of the viewer's position.

Hitachi wants this technology used in entertainment and digital signage applications, especially now that depth resolution seems to have improved (the tech was shown off at last year's CEATEC too, for those who remember).
