To show his categorical support for his gay grandson, an 80-year-old man from Chicago decided to get a small tattoo of an equal sign on his wrist.

The moment when Frank Orvino went to a tattoo parlor and got inked was caught on camera and has gone viral on YouTube. The video was posted by Will Wrench, who says the man in the video is his partner's grandfather.

According to Metro, grandpa Frank was accompanied by his grandson, Joe Skwarek, and, at the end of the video, they compared tattoos, as the young man also had an equal sign tattooed on his hip.

When asked what made him get the equal sign tattoo, Grandpa Frank responded, “Well, I wanted to support my grandson, who's gay. I think it's important that we show support for him.”

“My grandson came out to me first … and he thought it was a big deal, and I said I didn't think it was,” he added.

The 80-year-old man mentioned that he got inked to show his support for gay rights and to encourage people to accept everyone for who they are. He said he went to Chicago’s Gay Pride march every year since his grandson first came out five years ago.
