Cheryl Cole Sees Divorce Attorney

A few days ago, rumors had it that Cheryl Cole was thinking of reconciling with her cheating husband, football star Ashley Cole, and thus turn a blind eye on allegations of infidelity for the second time in their marriage of about 4 years. Now, the Daily Mail reports that the singer has had a change of heart and has seen a divorce attorney to walk her through the steps.

When Cheryl announced the separation from Ashley on Twitter, she did not say whether she’d also be filing for a divorce or whether she only saw this as a “break,” some time apart to see how their marriage could weather the storm. Speculation claimed at one point she was inclining towards the latter, while unnamed friends were telling the tabs that she was being advised to get a quick divorce. After a “crisis meeting” at the end of last week, Cheryl has decided to start divorce proceedings.

“She wanted a polite discussion on how to split their marital assets. He swaggered in, confident that he could win her back. Within half an hour, Ashley Cole had been kicked out of their home – and shortly afterwards Cheryl Cole consulted Fiona Shackleton, the divorce lawyer who represented Sir Paul McCartney and Prince Charles. […] Mrs. Cole and her estranged husband met for talks at their £6million Surrey mansion last Friday on his return from a sports injury clinic in France. But when she realized that he planned to talk about a reconciliation, she decided the conversation was off,” the Daily Mail writes.

Friends of the singer tell the same story: she’s determined to get a divorce and she’s being told she should get one as quickly as possible. “Cheryl is being told she should not drag this through the courts. Lawyers for Ashley could build a case that she wasn’t the perfect wife either. She has hardly seen him for months on end due to work, her mother Joan’s presence in the house has hardly been conducive to romance, she might occasionally have been demanding and moody. We know she can also have a difficult side. This is the girl who was found guilty of punching a nightclub toilet attendant,” the unnamed spies reveal.

As we also noted on past occasions, this is the second time that the Coles deal with allegations of infidelity on Ashley’s side. The first time around, Cheryl decided to forgive him, telling the media later that she was not of the opinion that marriage (or love for that matter) could be perfect and that compromises had to be made.
