Microsoft is expected to launch Windows 10 Mobile later this year, but the first smartphones powered by the new OS have already been unveiled, and it's not the Redmond-based company that made the announcement.

Cherry Mobile, a Philippine handset maker, teased a few days ago something exciting regarding its Windows Phone lineup of smartphones.

Although we thought the company would announce another budget friendly smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8.1, Cherry Mobile surprised everyone and introduced the first handsets that will ship with Windows 10 Mobile right out of the box.

The new phones are called Alpha Prime 4 and Alpha Prime 5. Even though Cherry Mobile did no share any details on their availability, we're convinced they will be launched soon after Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile later this year.

Obviously, it's too early to talk about pricing options, but considering their specs, they won't be expensive at all.

Speaking of which, the folks over at Gadgetpilipinas have the scoop on Alpha Prime 4 and Alpha Prime 5 specs sheet, which look decent enough.

Two budget friendly phones meant to increase Windows Phone's market share

The less impressive of the two, Alpha Prime 4 comes with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution/

It also packs a 5-megapixel camera on the back and another 2-megapixel camera in the front. On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

No word on microSD card slot yet, but we do know the Alpha Prime 4 comes with LTE (FDD B1/B3/B5/B7) support and is fully compatible with WCDMA 900/2100 bands.

Moving on to the second Windows 10 smartphone to be launched by Cherry Mobile, Alpha Prime 5 is powered by the same 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

It also sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display of unknown resolution and packs dual cameras (8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera).
