The creator of one of the most surprising and successful horror franchises of our times, Oren Peli, he of “Paranormal Activity” fame, has written and co-produced a new film, which will be coming out on May 25 this year.

It's called “Chernobyl Diaries” and, like its name clearly implies, it exploits the nuclear tragedy of 1986, while also drawing for inspiration on the still very present trend of extreme tourism.

In 2002, the city of Prypiat, where about 50,000 workers at Chernobyl lived, was opened to the public. It's best described as a time capsule, since it was abandoned in no more than 40 minutes and no one has ever returned to it.

Of course, in the film, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's empty.

In fact, 6 American tourists accompanied by their guide, will find out that they're not as alone as they first imagined.

They also find out that Prypiat hides more secrets they could have ever thought.
