Cher Lloyd, who shot to fame during the last season of X Factor, has a new-found love for tattoos. A little over a month after getting new ink, the singer has gotten two more tattoos that she’s showing off on Twitter.
They’re both on her arms, representing a birdcage from which a bird flies away. It carries a ribbon in her beak with the writing “Boo” on it.
As Cher herself writes in a tweet accompanying the photo, both tattoos are in the memory of her uncle Edward “Boo Boo” Smith, who died last September after he was “deceived” into taking a heroin substitute, methadone.
“Happy birthday uncle boo, missing you. New tattoo. Xxxx,” Cher writes.
As noted above, just in January this year, the young singer had debuted two more tattoos, a diamond on her hand and lyrics on her arm.
While she was on the X Factor, Cher got inked with “Bolsillo lleno de sueños” on her arm, the Spanish translation of “pocketful of dreams from Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind.”
At that time, she already had two tats, a bow on her lower back and a musical note on her hand, which prompted some talk about how she was trying to copy everything in her idol Cheryl Cole, including the hand tattoo.
Reports in the British media say that Simon Cowell, who signed Cher on a £2 million contract even before X Factor had wrapped up and a winner chosen, is
none too happy about her newly discovered inclination to body art.
Then again, one might as well argue, since fans voted and
kept her on the show for as long as they did, it’s likely that they won’t be deterred from buying her album when it comes out just because she’s getting tattooed.
In the meantime, no word yet on when said album may arrive in stores, but do keep an eye on this space for updates.
