The MTV Video Music Awards 2013 were 3 weeks ago but Miley Cyrus’ outrageous performance with Robin Thicke is still on the lips and minds of many. Cher, for one, is saying that it was incredibly bad.

Speaking with USA Today to promote her own album, Cher spared no punches when she was asked what she thought of Miley’s twerking and live singing.

Pretty much like the rest of the world, Cher says she would have thought the whole act was groundbreaking if it had actually been worth all that hype.

“I don’t give a [expletive] if she comes out naked. Just be better, do better. Maybe she’s thrilled and delighted – everyone’s talking about it. And so, that’s almost as good as it being great, you know. Especially kind of in this day and age,” the diva says.

“I’m not old-fashioned. She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated,” Cher continues.

This was pretty much how the entire world reacted to Miley’s performance: she would have been excused for being so outrageous if she had delivered a solid vocal performance and dancing routine (i.e. twerk).

But she didn’t, so naturally, people felt cheated because the shock factor came to replace actual music / live performing.

Hours after Cher’s interview came out, she took to her official Twitter to backtrack, but not apologize.

“Re:Miley S….I Think What I Think, but Having Said That…I’m a little ashamed (which is Total bull[expletive],how can u B a LITTLE ASHAMED) that I didn’t keep my big Opinionated mouth Shut,” Cher says, arguing that she’s too old to fall into this trap anymore.

She continues by saying she should have supported a fellow artist instead of criticizing her, and stressing that she’s not really apologizing for what she said.

In other words, Cher still thinks Miley’s performance was awful, but she’s realized she should have never said that out loud.
