Kim Kardashian wasn’t the only celebrity to walk down the aisle this weekend. Country singer Chely Wright was also a blushing bride: she and partner Lauren Blitzer were married in front of 200 guests in Connecticut.

Just weeks after coming out on the cover of People magazine, Chely met Lauren, the woman of whom she says she knew she wanted to marry from the first moment.

Over the weekend, she got to do just that, the same magazine reports in today’s issue. The wedding ceremony was very low-key and, as per the report, very lovely.

Whereas Kim’s wedding was in the media for weeks before it took place – and will most likely hold headlines for a while longer – Chely and Lauren chose to make the event known to fans on Twitter and via a short interview with People.

Both brides wore white gowns, the publication informs, but neither put on a veil because, as the country singer explains, “We like our hair too much!”

Similarly, the two also opted out of having a live band at the reception, choosing a DJ instead. “Bands at weddings make me nervous,” Wright jokes with People.

The ceremony itself was a compromise because the two brides are so different: Chely is a vegetarian but Lauren isn’t. Eventually, they settled for a meat-based menu for the wedding.

Moreover, “since Wright is Christian and Blitzer is Jewish, both a reverend and a rabbi presided over their ceremony,” People further informs.

However, none of that mattered when it came down to what happened during the ceremony: Chely and Lauren could marry and, in doing so, take their relationship to a whole new level.

“The freedom of being out and open about who I am allowed me to find and fall in love with Lauren – the most amazing woman I’ve ever known,” the country singer says of the happy day, as per the aforementioned magazine.
