Chelsea can never get enough of spending big money on even bigger players. After signing Andryi Shevchenko and Michael Ballack before the World Cup - a very smart move, since both of them would have cost more after the competition - Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen his defense. And the Portuguese tactician seems to want Gianluca Zambrotta more than anything in the world. And that's understandable, since the Juventus defender has won the World Cup with his Italy.
And, with the problem Juventus faces nowadays, it's more than likely that Abramovich will satisfy
his coach's wishes. Still, before thinking of Zambrotta - who didn't yet agree to move to London - Mourinho's side seems closer to another bargain. And it involves the man that got the Portuguese suspended 2 years ago, Ashley Cole. The Arsenal winger seems about ready to leave the Londoners, especially since he is not on the best terms with Coach Arsene Wenger.
Still, it will not be such a swift deal for the "blues", since Arsenal is asking around 25 million euros for Cole. And, since the player is an English international for some time now, that seems about right. The 25-year old is almost certain to join Chelsea in the next week, if we were to believe the English tabloids. Still, as Arsene Wenger stated a few days ago, Arsenal will not sell many players this summer.
Ashley Cole's argument with Wenger started when Chelsea contacted the player two years ago. The French coach found out about the whole deal and they announced the FA to take some legal actions against Mourinho. The Portuguese was suspended and received a fine, while Cole had to pay almost 120.000 euros for what he was about to do.
This year, the 25-year old winger decided to write an autobiography. Still, the book is not going to look like the Englishman would have wanted, since certain chapters concerning the above-named incident have been taken out. Why? It seems that they would have revealed pretty damaging information towards Arsenal, and the club officials "suggested" him to modify them.
