Chelsea Triumph in the Premiership

Chelsea won its second straight championship on Saturday, when the Londoners managed a 3-0 win over Manchester United, their main contenders for the Premiership title. Jose Murinho`s team crashed United with goals from William Gallas (1st half), Joe Cole and Ricardo Carvalho, to assure its leading position 2 games from the end of the season.

For Murinho, this is his 4th consecutive title in domestic championships, after he won 2 in a row with FC Porto in Portugal, and managed the same performance with Chelsea in the Premiership.
He was delighted after the Saturday clash: "It's a fantastic feeling...that's the second in England after two in Portugal. Last season no one believed we would win, last season we were six, seven points ahead and still people doubted. This year, in December, people were already saying we were champions. Manchester United were fantastic and I think today the result doesn't show how difficult it was for us".

Even if they are now champions in England, Chelsea's main regret remains the fact that they couldn't qualify for the UEFA Champions League final. For the second time in a row, Murinho was held down by Rijkaard`s Barcelona, after he was eliminated from the competition by Liverpool last year. Rumors about the Portuguese coach leaving the English side have been all over in the media lately. Murinho assured Chelsea's fans, though, that he will stay with the blues for at least one more season.

For English fans, though, Saturday's match brought them even more motives to worry for the up-coming World Cup. Striker Wayne Rooney was severely injured, fracturing a bone in his right foot. The Manchester United official site said that Rooney will be out for at least 6 weeks. Considering that England will start their World Cup campaign on June the 10th, it's more than likely that the United striker will not start for England against Paraguay.
