Chelsea Doesn't Want to Let Crespo Go

The Argentine striker wants to come back to Italy

You would have guessed that, with all those players in the squad, Chelsea would not fight too much for a player like Hernan Crespo. It's not like the Argentine striker is not good enough for Jose Mourinho's team, but with Shevchanko, Ballack, Drogba and Essien in the team, who in the world will give Crespo a chance? Well, maybe he is very popular in England, but his playing for the blues game after game seems pretty unlikely for the future.

Still, Chelsea is not even thinking about letting the player go. After seeing that Chelsea
bought a lot of players with an offensive profile in the last few months, Crespo realized that the Italian Serie A is the place for him to continue his professional years. After all, that's where he first hit the jackpot - as his career is concerned - and most of the teams he has played for are very much interested in welcoming him back.

Crespo stated, in an Italian newspaper, that he would very much like to return to Serie A, despite the Calciopoli scandal that seriously influences the Italian football's image in Europe. He stated that Roman Abramovich offered him a great deal, but he turned it down, realizing that football, and not money, is what he's looking for right now.

"He offered me a house, a private jet and more money, but money and success doesn't come into it. Italy is my natural environment, it's where I'll live when I retire and it's the best place to play. Abramovich is a marvelous person and Chelsea is a fantastic club, they have treated me like a king. The fans have been great too, but I am waiting here, just hoping my mobile will ring. I can guarantee that I am a healthy striker with just one wish - to return and play my sort of football", admitted Crespo.

Still, Chelsea is not willing to let the striker go. And that's pretty much the reason why not many offers with Crespo's name on them came towards London. "He is contracted for the next two years and will remain so unless we receive a suitable offer. Everyone at Chelsea is aware of his domestic situation and we have every sympathy for that", said a statement from the Stanford Bridge club.
