Cheezburger Network, the company behind popular blogs such as I Can Has Cheezburger, Fail Blog and many others, has acquired Know Your Meme, a wiki of sorts documenting internet memes as they happen.

Know Your Meme, owned by Rocketboom, has been the go to place for all the meme-related info you'd ever need. Now it joins the Cheezburger family, after the company paid a "seven figure sum" for the four-year-old site.

Meme creation machines like Reddit and 4chan are always churning out new stuff and, unless you hang out on the two sites all day long, i.e. you have school, a job, a life outside of the computer, you're going to stumble upon something that makes no sense.

This is when you hit Know Your Meme and enlighten yourself. And, since there's always a good selection of content related to each meme, you'll probably find some of the funnier stuff on the site as well.

Know Your Meme also puts out videos explaining some of the biggest memes, this is how it got off the ground in the first place. All in all, it's a useful resource and it's got the numbers to back this up, there are about three million monthly unique visitors on the site who generate 20 million page views.

"Today at Rocketboom we announce the sale of Know Your Meme to The Cheezburger Network. Cheezburger recently raised $30M and offered a super seven figure deal (I’d like to tell you how much exactly but they wanted to keep that confidential.)," Know Your Meme's creator Andrew Baron wrote.

"I'm excited to see the Know Your Meme community joining the Cheezburger community,' said Ben Huh, CEO and founder of Cheezburger. "Since Cheezburger is the playground of choice for millions of Internet culture fans, this acquisition is a natural compliment for our community," he added.
