Wyke Farms, i.e. UK's largest independent cheesemaker and milk processor, is the proud owner of two solar arrays that it installed about a year ago as a result of a collaboration with contractor Brilliant Harvest.

By the looks of it, the amount of energy that these two solar arrays have produced over the past 12 months exceeds their on-paper power generation capacity.

Otherwise put, the 117 solar panels that make up the two installations have outperformed, and will probably continue to do so in the years to come.

According to Sustainable Review, the first solar array currently generates about 46,200kWhs of electricity on a yearly basis, whereas the second has an annual output of 28,121kWhs.

Together, they help keep some 26 tonnes of carbon emissions from entering our planet's atmosphere on a yearly basis.

Commenting on the news that Wyke Farms' solar panels are performing better than expected, Jeff Ingvaldson with Brilliant Harvest said that, “We are delighted it is meeting its objectives earlier than expected.”

“Dairy farms have not typically been set up with energy efficiency in mind and Wyke Farms is unique in its dynamic approach,” he added.
