LG is expected to unveil its upcoming flagship, the G4, during a press event scheduled for April 28, but even if we are a few weeks away from the actual launch, a lot of details about the upcoming phone have become available to us already.

A few days ago, we told you the Korean tech giant unveiled a 5.5-inch QHD IPS display with 120% color gamut, which will most likely make it into the upcoming flagship.

Fast forward a few days, and the device maker has announced the LG UX 4.0, its latest spin on the Android interface, which you’ll probably see implemented on the G4. The producing company says that the focus with UX 4.0 is to provide a simple and accessible user experience that can be customized at will.

LG brings a host of new “Smart” features to the new UX

LG has added a bunch of new features in the photography department with UX 4.0. First of all, there’s the Quick Shot option, which enables users to double-click the volume button located on the back of the device to launch the camera app.

Then, we also have the Expert Camera Mode, which apparently lets the Gallery app understand where photos have been taken, so that it can automatically group them in different albums.

Another newcomer to the party is Smart Board, which is used to gather info from the calendar, music and health app and combine it into a single widget.

Smart Alert is an intelligent app that can learn the specifics of your lifestyle and offer custom notifications in the process.

For example, if your phone knows you’re a runner, it will send you notifications saying something like “The weather looks great, time to go for a run.” The device will be able to pick up this information if you previously installed and used running apps on it.

Last but not least, we have the Ring ID, a feature that will be included to allow you to personalize ringtones for different contacts on your phone.

UX 4.0 will roll out on multiple handsets in the future

UX 4.0 won’t probably be exclusive to the LG G4, as the company will roll out the new interface on other phones as well, as it has previously done with other iterations.

During the LG G4 launch event, we’ll probably find out more about the new UX, so keep your eyes open.
