Security company Check Point has acquired a small Israeli startup company called Hyperwise that has developed a threat prevention engine that functions at CPU level.

The technology created by Hyperwise, based in Tel Aviv, is said to provide a better detection rate of threats and eliminates malware in a much earlier stage of attack, before the systems get infected.

The acquisition will have Hyperwise founders and team under the umbrella of Check Point and they will be part of the new owner’s operations. Furthermore, the technology will be integrated into the existing Check Point Threat Emulation portfolio.

“Security technology innovation needs to outpace threat innovation,” said Gil Shwed, CEO and Chairman of Check Point Software Technologies.

“As we integrate the next generation OS and CPU level threat protection into our Threat Emulation offering, Check Point bolsters customers’ cyber defense strategies to identify and stop the broadest range of attacks at the first point of contact,“ Shwed added.

Check Point said that its financial results should not be impacted by this deal, which is estimated at tens of millions of dollars. However, the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed by either of the companies, although rumor has it is little under $100 / €87.7 million.
