IT security company Check Point has launched R77, the latest version of the Software Blade platform. Check Point R77 comes with more than 50 product enhancements, including two new services.

One of the new additions is the ThreatCloud Emulation Service, which is designed to detect and block targeted attacks and advanced persistent threats (APTs). The ThreatCloud Emulation Service was first announced in February 2013, but now it’s being offered as a new cloud service.

R77 also includes HyperSpect, a new technology that’s designed to boost firewall performance by up to 50%.

Check Point R77 customers will also benefit from the Compliance Software Blade, a monitoring solution that continuously assesses security posture and offers actionable recommendations to improve security and compliance.

“The ability of the blade to solve our compliance concerns with regard to audits or security assessments is a huge benefit to our organization,” said William Dippel, manager, Networking, Data Security and Communications at Desert Research Institute.

“Not only are we now more compliant with regulations, the blade has made us more secure by directing us to areas of concern for which we were not even aware of beforehand.”

Other product enhancements include new and integrated central device management, Check Point GAiA improvements, identity awareness integration, and an improved licensing system.

“Our customers need to stay one step ahead of the bad guys to protect their networks, and R77 provides the best platform and security protections to help them to do that,” commented Dorit Dor, VP of products at Check Point Software Technologies.

“With optimized performance, cloud-based threat emulation and automated compliance monitoring, our software blade architecture is designed from the ground up to be the most comprehensive multi-layered security solution available today.”

Existing customers can upgrade their Check Point solutions for free. R77 and ThreatCloud Emulation Service will become available starting September 2, 2013 via Check Point’s global partners.
