The new Facebook uploader is being rolled out to everyone, slowly

Facebook is continuing the roll out of its brand new photo uploader app. It debuted a couple of weeks ago, but few people have it enabled so far. But things are going well so Facebook is making it available to more users. If you don't have it already, you should be getting it within the next few weeks.

The new uploader is quite an upgrade and should make it easier and especially faster to upload a lot of images at once to the site. That said, the real test will be how reliable it is.

One cool thing about the new tool is that you get to see the photos you're sending on Facebook, once one is finished uploading you'll see a thumbnail. This is useful since you can start editing the details of the photos even if they're not all uploaded yet.

You can also edit things like the title of the album, where the photos were taken and so on.

The idea is to save time, you don't have to wait around for the photos to load, especially if it's a big album and you're uploading full size photos (HD). Instead, you can fill in details and descriptions so by the time the photos have been uploaded, you're done editing the album as well and they're ready to go.

The photos section in Facebook is one of the most popular on the site. It's also the biggest photo-related site on the web. Tens of billions of images have been uploaded and more are coming each day.

The Facebook photo uploader then gets a lot of usage and, as you can imagine, some users run into problems. The old versions of the app have gotten their fair share of criticism and Facebook should be threading very carefully when releasing a new version. Hopefully, there won't be any problems, but Facebook is being cautious and rolling out the feature slowly.
