Google ran a really ornate doodle yesterday dedicated to the famed jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé creator of the eggs of the same name.
Most people may not realize this, but Google puts a lot of work into its doodles and artists go through an entire process before coming up with something worthy of being seen by hundreds of millions of people.
That was the case this time around as well, doodler Jennifer Hom came up with several versions of the doodle before the final one you saw yesterday was picked. These weren't just rough sketches, they were good enough to be displayed on the homepage, but they weren't perfect.
"[Fabergé] and his studio were... perfectionists. Perhaps in the spirit of finding just the right composition to celebrate Fabergé's birthday, I went through numerous positions/designs for this doodle," Hom
wrote.
