Selfies are so popular even Apple couldn’t help but create an exclusive category on its App Store dedicated to camera apps that let you take selfies. One such tool comes from iOS developer Wimlog, but this one’s kind of special.

Unlike traditional apps that take photos, iSelfie has been cleverly designed to take pictures remotely controlling your iPhone from another iPhone. Confusing? The developer elaborates:

“iSelfie is a free app to wireless connect between two iOS devices. One act as camera host, another one act as remote controller. User can choose bluetooth or nearby WiFi to connect. Once connected, remote controller can preview and take picture using the high resolution of back camera of the host.”

Users get an adjustable timer and a preview on the remote side. Minimum requirements include iOS 5 or above, or iOS 7 for nearby WiFi. Hardware-wise, you need iPod touch fourth-generation, iPod touch fifth-generation, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad third-generation, iPad fourth-generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, or iPad mini with Retina display.

No routers are required, as the devices can facilitate a direct wireless connection to one another. There’s even a “privacy requirement” mentioned by Wimlog. “For iOS 6 or 7, this app requires to access ‘Photo’ privacy. For iOS 5, this app requires to access ‘Location Services’ privacy,” the developer says.

Download iSelfie for your iDevice, and check out the full press release past the break to get the full scoop.
