Even though Windows 8 got to see daylight in October 2012, all eyes are on the next Windows release that’s expected to hit the market this summer under the Blue designation.

And still, several insiders are already talking about Windows 9, the full-featured successor of Windows 8 which is reportedly scheduled to be released in November 2014.

Windows 9 is expected to bring a wide array of improvements to the Windows platform, including a major overhaul of the Metro UI, heavily criticized by early adopters.

DeviantArt user Softboxindia has created a concept that envisions Windows 9’s File Explorer, the built-in file manager which allows users to browse local drives. While it does look great, we’re not pretty sure that Microsoft is ready to migrate from the classic design of Windows Explorer, even though it’s now featuring an updated version equipped with a Ribbon.

Either way, let’s hope that Microsoft at least checks these concepts out, as some Windows features clearly need more appealing designs.
