YouTube has a new design in the works and it's already testing it out on random users

YouTube is playing around with its interface once more, trying to declutter the page a bit.

So far, the changes seem to be only in a test phase, so you might not see them yet, but the new interface might land on your screens sooner rather than later.

So, what are the changes? Well, first off, you’ll notice that the area with the number of video views, likes, dislikes has been separated from the “About” area, which can be found in a separate card. The comments section has been given its own card too, along with the suggestions on the right side.

Basically, the YouTube interface has gone from one solid block to a more modern look that makes information around the video pop out due to the simple gaps between areas.

In the top area, right below the video you’ll notice information about the video, namely the title and the name of the uploader, complete with the Subscribe button and the subscriber stats. On the right, you’ll see the number of views the video got. A thin line is right underneath this info, separating information within the first card. Below the line, you’ll find the “Add to” button which allows you to include the video to one of your playlists, and the “Share” button.

Under the “More” section, you’ll only see the Report button. On the right-hand area, you’ll see how many likes and dislikes the video received right beside the buttons that enable you to share your opinion with a thumbs up or down. The “Statistics” button seems to have vanished in this new interface, so it’s probably safe to say that we’re all going to lose it soon.

Then, in the second card, you’ll find information that is currently under the “About” tab under videos. More specifically, you’ll notice the date it was published on, the description, as well as the category it was filed under and licensing details.

The comments and the similar videos continue to hold their position, although they were placed on cards too, separating each section with the help of a small gap in the off-white shade that can already be found on the sides of the YouTube interface.

The changes are not that dramatic, but they do make the YouTube page easier to read and use. The tabs that we’ve had to use for a while can be annoying at times.
