As reported today, Adobe has just introduced a new version of Photoshop that arrives with an entire host of changes, covering feature improvements, bug fixes and other novelties.

Before taking a tour of what the new soft brings to the table of editing, we should mention that Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 15.0 arrives with several experimental features like touch gesture, multitone 3D printing and support for scaling the UI to up to 200% on high-density displays.

Anyway, let’s see what the new edition has to offer. For starters, now when you open a document that has missing fonts in it, Photoshop CC will be able to automatically check if the missing item is part of the 1,000 font library pertaining to the Typekit portfolio. When a match is located, Photoshop is capable of downloading and installing that particular font for you.

Another font-related enhancement allows you to search for the perfect font in the massive font database even if you don’t know its entire name. You can also preview any font you like in concert with your design, so you can see which fits best.

Smart Guide has also been updated, so now it will show you the pixel distance to the edge of canvas when you press and hold Cmc (Mac) and CTRL (Windows). It will also display the distance to any other object and you can achieve this by holding the same keys or hovering over an object.

Smart Objects has received a significant boost too, so users can now convert Smart Objects to linked. There’s a new Package command that readies your PSD and links to be share with other people. Moreover, if you happen to have multiple Layer Comps inside a Smart Object, there’s the possibility of toggling which comp shows up in the Properties panel.

The new version will also solve an important problem in the focus department. If you have an image whose subject is focused but the background remains blurry, the new Focus Mask tool will help you remove the subject from the picture.

Adobe is also trying to provide a boost to what it calls “blur creativity” by adding the Path Blur and Spin Blur functions. Tapping into the impressive math skills of seasoned Photoshop engineers, the feat will create truly realistic effects.

Anyway, if you’re more of a visual type of person, go ahead and check out this video, which details the major changes that Photoshop CC 2014 15.0 has brought around. It’s only 3minutes long, so it should not eat up much of your time.
