Google Earth is fun on your tablet, but it's even better on your big-screen monitor. Imagine then how it is on 48 huge screens stitched together.
A few years back, Google unveiled Liquid Galaxy, a multi-monitor setup that enabled viewers to completely immerse themselves in Google Earth.
About a year ago, the Paris Center for Architecture and Urbanism: Le Pavillon de l’Arsenal, asked Google if it could design an even bigger Liquid Galaxy-type setup to highlight the Paris metropolitan area as it will look like in 2020.
"What started as a 20% project to support the new Google Cultural Institute resulted in a stunning display of the Earth in almost 100M pixels - powered by 48 instances of Google Earth synchronized and operated through 4 multi-touch screens with pinch and zoom functionality," Google
explained.
