Back in the spring of 2010, actor David Boreanaz was involved in a cheating scandal that had more in common with the Tiger Woods scandal than the fact both cheated on their wives: they actually shared a mistress.
Now, Boreanaz speaks out on the state of the marriage post-cheating and admits that, far from ruining it, it actually made it stronger.
Cheating on his wife of nearly 10 years actually made them bond more, the actor says in an interview with TV Week.
“[Having an affair was] a bonding experience, in the long run,” the “Bones” star says, as cited by
Us Weekly.
Every marriage comes across obstacles, be them of this type or different but, if it’s strong enough – as his was – it can overcome them.
“In a sacred ground like marriage, you find yourself out of it at certain times for reasons unknown that can be destructive. There could be a demon that kind of comes out and overtakes you,” he says of his serial cheating.
In every relationship, there are “fantastic” moments and “extremely rocky” moments, the actor goes on to say. He, for one, is not the type of give up on the former only because of the latter.
“Do I believe in giving up? No, I don’t. I’m a fighter. I’m a lover,” David underlines.
Boreanaz and Jaime Bergman have been married since 2001, just a few months after meeting at a Playboy party. They have two children together and, until the cheating scandal, seemed made for each other.
As we also
informed you at the time, in May 2010, word got out that a former mistress of David’s was
blackmailing him, which is why he decided to come clean with the wife and the press by owning up to his infidelities.
Later on, news broke that the woman extorting him was actually Rachel Uchitel, also known as Tiger Woods’ number 1 mistress, though she never admitted to having
an affair with Boreanaz.
