A real gamer does not cheat – everybody knows it and probably everybody agrees with that. But, also, any true gamer could, at one point, get mad for not being able to progress through a game, so he has to cheat. It's easy, it's fast and, sometimes, it might be the only solution.
However, this has nothing to do with cheating to gain an advantage over other players or cheating just for the sake of doing it. And we all know that, unfortunately, there are lots of cheaters out there.
Some of them are "permanent residents" of the
Xbox 360. Some of them seem to have only one purpose in life: get 100 million achievement points and the biggest gamescore. And some of them know they can't obtain that without cheating. We know them, you know them, everybody has seen them: they are the ones that really believe that virtual points are nothing but Heaven. Well... their heaven is about to be turned into a real hell since
Microsoft has decided to act against those who cheat in order to increase their gamescore – a decision every honest gamer out there will really enjoy.
Here is what Major Nelson told about this: "I strongly urge you not to tamper with your Gamerscore and Achievements. If you decide to employ some nefarious techniques to artificially increase your Gamerscore or obtain achievements by manipulating the Xbox software without playing the game, bad things will happen."
These bad things include the removal of your entire Gamescore, the inability to re-earn the achievements that were removed from your account or, for extreme cases, a console and/or account ban could be possible. Microsoft is not playing with cheaters, so you should better be careful! And, as Major Nelson says: "The best way to increase your Gamerscore or gain that Achievement is to earn it like a real gamer; play the game." So don't cheat – it's simple.
