The device made a few appearances over the past year

We haven’t talked about the ASUS Transformer Pad TF502T since mid-January. The device has been spotted making an appearance on the Bluetooth SIG site and dropping by for a visit at FCC, so its launch seemed imminent.

ASUS Taiwan also set up an official page for the device and now almost a month later, the hybrid has been officially launched. The Transformer Pad TF502T is actually a repackaged version of the TF600T model which ran Windows RT out the box.

This particular version sports Android 4.2 out of the box and, surprise-surprise, it’s really cheap too, costing only €250 / $341 (via iFans).

It’s been a year since the last Android-enhanced model, the Transformer Pad TF701T has graced the market, so you might be curious what this device brings along.

True, customers that might have hoped for Android 4.4 KitKat will be disappointed, and keeping in mind that ASUS has barely pushed out the Android 4.3 update for some of its devices, there’s going to be a while until you can expect an official update to arrive.

The TF502T comes bundling a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is powered by the now old NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor (given the fact that the chip maker teased the Tegra K1 at CES) fitted with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (expandable via microSD).

As you can see, the device offers some pretty mid-range specifications, but the friendly price-tag might make it worth-while to customers looking to try out the 2-in-1 form factor.

The tablet can be fitted with a keyboard dock (no mention of an extra battery within it) and has Bluetooth, NFC, dual cameras and microHDMI too. The new Transformer Pad already ships in Taiwan, but we might end up taking a sneak peak at the new model at MWC 2014.
