Former DWTS contestant says he still dances to stay in shape
There was a time when the tabloids would run stories about Chaz Bono saying doctors had warned him he had less than 4 years to live if he didn’t lose weight ASAP. Today, 60 lbs. (27.2 kg) thinner, Chaz is laughing off the reports, while planning to transform himself even more.People magazine caught up with the former Dancing With the Stars contestant – and Cher’s son – at the GLAAD Media Awards 2013, where he seemed even thinner and in better shape than he did in February.
That’s because he lost more weight, he tells the magazine.
Chaz isn’t dieting or starving himself, he explains. He’s just changed his lifestyle to be healthier and, of course, the results did not fail to appear.
These days, Chaz dances and does martial arts to stay in shape, he says. He fell in love with dancing while on the ABC show, from which he was really sad to have been eliminated, so he still practices today.
“I still enjoy dancing. I still take classes,” he says.
As for what he eats, he explains that dieting has long failed to work for him.
“I've just changed the way I eat. Diets don't work. You just have to change what you eat, and I have,” the 44-year-old star explains.
To learn how to eat healthier, Chaz turned to the Freshology delivered-meal plan but, as of late, he also does a lot of cooking himself.
This way, he makes sure he can mix things up to avoid becoming bored of eating the same things over and over.
“I cook a lot of different stuff,” he says.
“I really avoid grains and starches, so meats and vegetables and fruits are my diet. I make them all different ways to keep it interesting,” Bono adds.
He’s already lost more weight than he initially planned but he’s not stopping here. He’s “slowly losing” more – and he plans to keep it off by staying healthy too.
