In April this year, Chaz Bono emerged in the spotlight again, showing off a brand new, considerably svelter figure than before. He had lost 60 lbs (27.2 kg) but, as he tells People magazine now, he’s still shedding the pounds.Bono’s weight loss now clocks at an impressive 65 lbs (29.4 kg) and was achieved entirely thanks to a healthier diet and plenty of exercise.
Speaking to People magazine the other day, Bono says he’d love to be on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars again because he imagines his healthier body would help him get further in the competition than he did the first time.
“I'm feeling really good. I'd love to do Dancing all over again. I'd do it much better now than I did it then,” he says.
Chaz’s journey towards health started with DWTS, as we also reported on a previous occasion. It was then that he realized that his body had become an “obstacle” and, at the same time, that he could do something to change it.
Today, Chaz looks in the mirror and loves the man smiling back to him, even though the weight loss is “slowing down now and getting harder.”
“Physically, my body feels just so much better. I'm in a lot less discomfort when I exercise and am doing physical stuff. All of my numbers are all normal now, which is great – my blood pressure, my cholesterol,” he says.
“I just have a lot more confidence, and that feels really cool. I really like what I see in the mirror,” Chaz adds.
The road to health hasn’t been an easy one, but it was worth it.
“To me, it was never really about a number. It was just about getting healthy and feeling and looking better. So I'm just kind of letting my body dictate. I've been eating the same way now for months and months and that hasn't changed. I'm going to have to eat this way for the rest of my life,” Bono is confident.
