As announced a short while ago, Chaz Bono, the transgender son of Cher and Sonny Bono, will be making a series of appearances at Mardi Gras in Sydney, Australia, with the biggest drag queen in the country, Courtney Act.

On Channel 7’s morning show Sunrise on Sunday, where Chaz made an appearance with Courtney Act, he confirmed that the appearances would also include duets, despite what was initially said, about how they would only have some dialog and “banter.”

Chaz also spoke about his transition from female to male and how he wished that could have taken place away from the prying eyes of the media. However, since he was the only child of one of the most famous couples in showbiz, that was never really an option.

On the topic of his transition, Chaz gushed about his mom Cher’s support, even though she initially had a very difficult time coping.

“Now our relationship is better than ever. It's really on equal footing,” Chaz said. “I can really give back and I don't want anything from her anymore, including approval. And that is nice.”
