The bank's customers were shocked to see they had no money in their accounts

On Monday, Twitter became flooded with posts from JP Morgan Chase customers who reported that their account balance was showing 0 when checking it online. Considering the large number of cyberattacks against US banks, most assumed the bank was hacked.

However, the financial institution’s representatives say they were not hacked. Instead, they told CNET that they experienced a “technology problem” caused by an internal issue, not cybercriminals.

Currently, the system appears to be working normally.

“*UPDATE* We're back to business as usual on Chase.com & Mobile. Apologies again for the trouble & thank you for your patience,” Chase representatives wrote on Twitter a few hours ago.

Since Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters launched Operation Ababil, the bank’s customers are accustomed to not being able to access their accounts online because of the massive distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks.

While in this case the “empty accounts” were generated by a technical glitch, experts have often warned that the DDOS attacks are sometimes used to cover up fraud.
