Aaa sales figures. You have to love sales figures...NOT! But hey, in order to make an idea on how a certain product's doing out there, we need them. Plus, they make good news. Anyway, that's Chart Tracker's job. The UK sales tracker keeps good sales records of console such as Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PS3. I had a good reason for placing the PS3 last, as it's doing worse than in Sony's worst nightmares. But there's another thing that I need to mention to you before we go on: Chart Tracker likes to keep sales figures classified and for whatever reason they only show them on special occasion such as the PS3's launch on March, 23. But Tracker has a rat. Yes, and that rat spilled the beans on PS3 sales since launch.

Kotaku says that leaked Chart Tracker figures show that in three weeks, the PS3 has gone from 165,000 units sold to 34,000 and then to 17,000. Talk about kicking Sony in the nuts. We all know that the PS3 wasn't doing too good before PAL launch and we hoped that along with the European and Australian launch things would be better. As it turns out, they're worse. Not only does the PS3 fall short on sales everywhere around the world, but retailers stopped ordering the 20GB SKU, thus Sony's pulled it from the market.

You know my saying that goes: "Can Nintendo ever fail?" right? Well, I've got a new one and it's for Sony: "Can they ever get it right?" Apparently not. Settling with Immersion Corp. on the rumble issue didn't do them much good, giving away free TV sets and a taxi ride home for customers at the UK PS3 launch couldn't pull it off either, throwing in PSPs along with the next-gen machine proved to be a bad solution for retailers stuck with machines on shelves and so on.

But hold on. Now that figures on PS3 sales have been leaked, Chart Tracker is organizing an investigation to find out who's the rat giving away figures like newspapers on the corner. Like we didn't know how the PS3 was doing anyway. Won't do Sony much good even if they find him that's for sure, but hey! Thanks rat, you've confirmed our expectations!
