It's not often that the media gets it wrong when it comes to celebrity couples, and it looks as though they were right on the money this time too, when they paired Oscar-winner Charlize Theron with fellow actor Sean Penn.

Theron, 38, and Penn, 53, set the rumor mill into overdrive last December, when they were spotted together celebrating New Year's in Hawaii.

This time, they seemed to be very intimate and very into each other at a fund raiser for Penn's Haiti charity over the weekend.

Though they have yet to confirm their relationship officially, the two actors let actions speak louder than words. Witnesses at the gala said the couple were holding their arms around each other and cuddling.

At the beginning of the night, the two chose to walk the red carpet separately, but later in the evening, they sat together sharing glances and intimate laughs.

It even went as far as Sean introducing Charlize to his mom, Eileen Ryan Penn, which indicates that things are getting pretty serious.

As the evening progressed, Sean eventually leaned in for a kiss on the neck of the South African beauty and she didn't seem to mind. It was a big night for everyone, as the 3rd Annual Help Haiti Home Gala managed to raise $6 million (€4,3 million) for the cause.

The event got an impromptu performance by rock band U2, whose frontman Bono is a known humanitarian. Among the famous guests who were in attendance at the gala were Bette Midler, Michael Douglas, Chelsea Handler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Silverman and Idris Elba.

Even if things are getting pretty serious with Penn and Theron, the latter chose not to come to the Golden Globes on Sunday with her new man, but instead opted to bring her mother, Gerda, as a date. At least one of them seems to be keeping up appearances.
