Charlize Theron Wants to Be the Next Catwoman

Although earlier reports had it that Megan Fox had already signed her name on the contract that would have her as Catwoman in the next “Batman” film, it seems she is yet to prove herself worthy of the black leather catsuit. Stiff competition is looming on the horizon from the likes of Charlize Theron, who is desperate to land the part for herself, as IMDB.com informs.

Studio bosses are keeping mum on the subject saying only that, at this point, there isn’t even a script to work on. Be that as it may – and assuming they’re actually honest in their statement, which would be uncommon given the magnitude of the franchise – Oscar-winner Charlize wants in. The actress says nothing of being contacted for the part but she leaves no doubt as to her answer if she were.

“I think what has happened to that franchise is amazing. [Batman filmmaker] Chris Nolan is a genius. I would be an idiot to not consider that part.” Theron is quoted as saying. Reports in the media suggest she isn’t the only one to see things this way and do everything in her power to land the much-coveted part. Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd, together with Megan Fox, are also set to land it and have their agents working overtime, it is being said.

As we were also telling you just a short while ago, Fox was tipped as the most likely candidate for Catwoman in the film that comes out in 2011. Neither the “Transformers” star nor her management made any comment regarding this at the time, but buzz was strong in the industry that she had already signed her contract and was just waiting to finalize other projects before getting to work for the part.

Still, others took the rumor with a grain of salt, noting that it started precisely as hype for Fox’s latest film, “Jennifer’s Body,” was starting to build. “The buzz that ‘Transformers’ starlet Megan Fox might take the iconic role of Catwoman comes just before her movie ‘Jennifer’s Body’ is released. Though almost certainly not true, that casting would make Fox the youngest Catwoman ever.” the NY Daily News was saying at the time, as we also informed you.
