Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were first linked romantically in the media in 2010 but, by January 2014, actual evidence that they were dating started to emerge online. Last night at the MET Gala 2014, they made their official debut as a couple by walking the red carpet together.

And, as was to be expected, they were a sight for sore eyes. Charlize isn’t just an Oscar-winning talented actress, she also happens to be one of the most beautiful and stylish women in showbiz, which is no surprise considering she got her start in the industry as a model.

She’s also been the face of Dior for many years, which probably explains why she favors Dior on most red carpets. She never disappoints, so it’s not like this loyalty to the brand has turned her style predictable or not interesting anymore.

Last night for instance, as she and Sean walked on the red carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where the 2014 edition of the Costume Institute Gala Benefit was held, she looked absolutely flawless in a Dior white gown.

Us Weekly describes the design as a “a strapless Dior Haute Couture white crepe gown with navy and black satin incrustations,” which Theron paired with “a Dior black wool jacket and Dior clutch.” So she was wearing Dior from head to toe, with the only exception being the Fred Leighton jewels, including a pair of oversized earrings that gave the outfit a certain punk undertone.

“Penn, 53, opted for a traditional tux and white shirt,” the celebrity publication further says. “The Milk actor stayed close to his lady love, holding her hand as they made their way into the ball, which this year is celebrating the opening of the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibition.”

Charles James is also known as “America’s First Couturier” and became famous for his cutting and structured designs. Co-chairs for the opening of the exhibit included Bradley Cooper, Anna Wintour, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

As noted above, the first rumors of a romantic relationship between the two Oscar-winning actors broke in 2013 and were probably linked to the fact that they spent a lot of time in the same circles and had found some common ground in their charity work.

Charlize and Sean then spent New Year’s Eve together and have been inseparable ever since. They haven’t made actual efforts to hide the fact that they were dating, but this was the first red carpet they did together.

Just this last weekend, one of the US glossies claimed that Penn had already bought Charlize a conflict-free diamond ring, having decided to propose to her as soon as possible. If he did it already, she wasn’t wearing it at the MET Ball, though.
