Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, just two blocks from the bank where she was discovered by a talent manager after throwing a tantrum a decade ago. She turned out for the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard's famous pavement where she was awarded the 2,291st bronze-edged star on the Walk of Fame.
"If somebody had told me then that this would have happened one day, I would have laughed in their face," the actress said.
"I'm incredibly humbled and honored to be here today. You've made a farm girl from South Africa feel very much at home", she added.
The South-African actress who wan an Oscar for her Monster performance last year, was a model and ballerina, but had no choice than to listen to her mother and moved to Los Angeles, where she was supposed to try her luck as an actress. She was spotted by an agent while shouting at a cashier who refused to cash her cheque, and so she got into the movie business.
Her latest film, sexual harassment drama North Country, is rumored as a possible Oscar contender.
"Charlize Theron isn't faking it - not as a movie star, or as an actor or as a human being. She is the real deal and she's deeply deserving of this honor", North Country director Niki Caro said.
Charlize will next be seen in the upcoming sci-fi action film, Aeon Flux.
