For anyone who has been following the romance between Brett Rossi and Charlie Sheen for the last couple of months, the news that they have split up doesn't come as a surprise since their relationship has been progressively spiraling out of control.

Radar has announced that the couple, who were set to marry in about one month's time, on November 22, have instead called it quits, deciding that it was in both their best interest not to get married.

The actor confirms the split, claims he still loves Rossi, wishes her all the best

The news was confirmed by Sheen's publicist, Jeff Ballard, who issued a statement in which he explained the current state of affairs between the two. Ballard quotes Charlie when he says, “Scotty and I had a great year together as we traveled the world and crossed a lot of things off our bucket list.”

“She’s a terrific gal, but we’ve mutually decided to go our separate ways and to not spend the rest of our lives together,” he added, making it sound like the split was mutual and friendly, which is not that common for the mercurial actor, who has several bitter divorces on his resume at the moment, and just as many bitter ex-wives.

The actor did not give a reason for the breakup, at least not an official one, but he did say this: “I’ve decided that my children deserve my focus more than a relationship does right now. I still have tremendous fondness for Scotty and I wish her all the best.”

The actor and the former adult actress had been involved in a whirlwind romance that culminated with their engagement on Valentine's Day this year, during a trip to Hawaii. Rossi seemed head over heels for Sheen, whom she called her “best friend and soulmate.”

Rossi became increasingly controlling over the summer, reports claimed

But things started to go bad over the summer. Reports of Rossi becoming a “Bridezilla” increased in frequency, with friends becoming worried that Sheen was letting Scotty govern his life. It's thought that she was the real reason Denise Richards had to move with her two daughters out of Charlie's home which he owned in an exclusive neighborhood.

Rossi reportedly complained to Charlie that she was irritated by the fact that they had to live in the same neighborhood as his ex and his children and she made him evict them. Slowly but surely, Scotty also interfered with Charlie's partying ways, forbidding him to see certain friends, to hold parties at his house and to stay out late.

Last month, Charlie began acting erratically again, firing his longtime bodyguard, getting into a physical argument with a dental technician who has since pressed charges, and also shutting down production on his sitcom “Anger Management” because he showed up with a cut on his face and needed time to heal.
