Much has been said about how producers and Chuck Lorre will handle Charlie Sheen’s departure from the successful sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” One theory was to have the character of Charlie Harper be killed off – and a new report suggests that this is precisely what will happen.

With a premiere set for September, shooting doesn’t start until August, which means there’s still a strong possibility series creator Lorre will change his mind about how he’ll kill off the character of Harper.

Nevertheless, TMZ claims that, right now, it looks like the future is grim for the character: it’s been decided that he’ll die in a car crash, after driving off a cliff.

The decision may not be permanent, but it does confirm that Lorre and CBS are set to make it impossible for Sheen ever to return to the show that made him the highest earning television star of recent years.

“‘Two and a Half Men’ will turn dark for just a minute or two when it premieres in September, because Alan and Jake will learn Charlie Harper bit the dust,” TMZ writes.

“Sources connected with the show tell TMZ Chuck Lorre’s plan is to make sure Charlie Sheen can NEVER come back on the show. Although the first show won’t be filmed until August 5, producers have been kicking around scenarios, which include Charlie driving a car over a cliff,” the e-zine says.

Even that could be a direct jab from Lorre to archrival Sheen, since two of the actor’s cars went down a cliff on Mulholland Drive in very dubious circumstances, of which Sheen claimed to have no idea at the time.

“Sources tell us the first script still isn’t locked and Lorre often makes changes until close to taping, but it’s pretty clear – Charlie Harper is pushin’ up daisies,” TMZ says.

The same spies claim Ashton Kutcher’s entrance on “Two and a Half Men” will be made possible when his character will buy the house that once belonged to Charlie Harper.
