It may come as a surprise to his fans and gossip lovers, but Charlie Sheen once took a drug that wasn’t “Charlie Sheen.” In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the actor admits to taking steroids for a movie role.

Before and while shooting for “Major League,” where he played professional baseball player R icky “Wild Thing” Vaughn, Sheen started taking steroids.

He wanted to make sure his performance was as believable as possible, and there was no way he could have done that without some help from the outside, he tells the mag, as cited by PopEater.

“Let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit. It was the only time I ever did steroids... I did them for like six or eight weeks,” Sheen admits.

“You can print this, I don’t give a [expletive]. My fastball went from 79 [miles-per-hour] to like 85,” he adds.

Since, in recent interviews, he’s come clean about doing all kinds of heavy narcotics, it’s easy to see why he doesn’t care if SI prints his admission that he once took steroids, word online has it.

In the same interview, Sheen says he stopped doing ‘roids when he realized how it affected his temper, when he got almost got into a fight because someone made fun of his hair.

“I didn’t like the haircut because it generated so many comments in bars. I’ve got enough of that already. Add that to the mix, and it’s a recipe for a fistfight,” he says of the haircut he got for the role.

In other Charlie Sheen-related news, reports online are saying that, now that his character on “Two and a Half Men” will almost certainly be killed off at the start of the next season, his career is in the gutter.

He’s not getting role offers or endorsement deals anymore, interest in him is fading and no sane network boss would take on such a huge risk as signing him is, it is being said.

Chances of a comeback are not looking good
