Charlie Sheen spent a chunk of the other night in the hospital, where he was rushed after someone from his clique called the local fire station. His people claim that he had a very severe food poisoning, so there’s no reason for fans to worry about his wellbeing.

However, rumor has it that the ER trip might have been a bit more than just about a plate of bad clams, especially since no one called 911, which would have meant the call would be automatically recorded. Radar Online, for instance, says that Sheen must have OD-ed after another one of his legendary binges.

Emergency call sparks overdose reports

TMZ was the first to break the news: paramedics came to Sheen’s house after someone called the local fire station. The actor was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for dehydration and was discharged about one hour and a half later.

The celebrity e-zine also says that Sheen’s people insist on food poisoning as the reason he had to be rushed to the hospital, offering assurances to fans that he’s been sober and clean for months.

However, Radar has a different story, traced back to people from Charlie’s entourage. Apparently, he had partied hard in the hours before the call, so the only reason he would have needed medical assistance was if he’d overdosed on drugs or poisoned himself with alcohol.

Moreover, says a spy, Sheen always instructs his party guests never to call 911 in case of an emergency because he knows the call is recorded and he doesn’t want word of it to get out in the press. This would explain why they called the fire station.

“He was partying like a madman!” says a spy. “He complained that his heart was racing, that his heartbeat was much stronger than usual.”

Apparently, he’d been on an “epic” binge again, and his body couldn’t take it anymore.

Breakup from fiancée sent him over the edge

Despite his assurances that he was clean and sober after he was fired from CBS’ “Two and a Half Men,” Charlie probably never kicked his habit. As per his own admission, he doesn’t believe in AA or in rehab for addiction; he even said that he could kick addiction through sheer will, because he had “tiger blood” running through his veins.

Rumor has it that, after the highly publicized meltdown he had once he got the axe, he just cooled it down in an attempt to fly under the radar, but he never stopped using or drinking.

Last October, Sheen and fiancée Brett Rossi, aka Scottine Sheen, broke up. He said she was a sweet girl, but he wanted to focus on his children more, so he had no time for her in his life right then.

Later on, she said he was a monster who would often beat her up in his drunken, drugged out rages, and that the cycle of abuse became downright dangerous to her life when she refused to abort the child she was carrying, Charlie’s child.

Whether her accusations are true or not we might never know for certain, but they did reveal that which the fans suspected all along: Charlie never really kicked his addictions.

In this light, the story that he was hospitalized for “food poisoning” seems a bit strange, doesn’t it?
