The actor was fired from the show 3 years ago

One thing that can't be argued is the fact that the sitcom “Two and Half Men” was much funnier when Charlie Sheen was still an actor on the show. But since the mercurial actor and the show's creator Chuck Lorre couldn't see eye to eye, Sheen was fired from the show three years ago and ever since then he's been badmouthing it on social media.

Today, however, the actor has come around to warmer feelings towards the production team, and he is now campaigning to reprise his role of Charlie Harper on the show for the final episode.

Charlie Sheen wants a "classy" comeback, producers say no

Talking to E! News, the actor confessed he would very much like to return to the show, “The chances would be 100 percent. If they want to do it. I just want to do it classy. I want to do it in a way that still services what the show is today, and also honours what it was when I was there. Who knows? I'm sure they are over there right now, pen to paper, trying to figure something out.”

The actors team maintains that they have reached out to the show's production team and that there have been back and forth discussions on the matter, “A balloon was floated so to speak. And everyone kind of went ‘Hmm, that could be kind of interesting.’ And that is the state where it is at.”

Producers deny any contact or talks with the actor's camp

However, the producers for the show maintain that this is not the case, claiming that no one on Sheen's team, or Sheen himself for that matter, has had any contact with them since he was fired from the sitcom years ago.

As you can all remember, Charlie was violently killed off in the show, which was kind of a message sent out to him by producers that there was no way he would be returning to the series. If his character disappeared one day or just left for another country, that meant that he could have eventually returned, but as it stands, the only way for Charlie to come back would be as a ghost or some other artifice.

An insider with the production team over at CBS claims that “Charlie has not had any conversations with the Two and a Half Men producers regarding a return. There has been no back and forth.”

Since his departure, Charlie has been replaced with Ashton Kutcher, who came in to play the role of billionaire playboy Walden Schmidt. Granted, the show was never the same since Sheen left, but most of the people adjusted to the transition, most of them, except Charlie that is.
