Best friend and former hellraiser himself Rob Lowe has come to Charlie Sheen’s defense once more, saying that talent always shines through. The former “Two and a Half Men” star can still make a comeback, as long as he manages to stay alive for it.

Speaking at the literature festival in Hay-on-Wye, Powys, to promote his upcoming biography “Stories I Only Tell My Friends,” Lowe stressed that fans shouldn’t lose hope in Charlie.

He’s always been very talented and, because of this, he’s bound to make a comeback. The only thing Sheen has to do is stay alive and the comeback will happen.

“I think talent always wins in the long term and Charlie is really talented,” he said.

“If you look at Wall Street or Platoon – which a lot of people have forgotten about because of his success in Two and a Half Men... as long as he stays alive I think he is going to be just fine,” Lowe added.

Even if Lowe is confident that Sheen will be back, the media isn’t anymore: after the rather disastrous “My Violent Torpedo of Truth / Defeat Is Not an Option” tour, Sheen seems to be running out of options for a comeback.

As we also reported a while back, word has it that he was “devastated” when CBS and Warner Bros. went ahead and hired Ashton Kutcher to take over for him in the insanely popular sitcom.

“He really thought that he would be invited back. After years of suffering no consequences for his behavior, why would he think anything else?” an insider was telling the US glossies a while back.

The fact that Sheen had realized he had no other options to fall back on only made things worse, the tipster stressed.

“Finally it has sunk in that he doesn’t live by different rules to everyone else. Actions do have consequences. Especially after all the other productions that he assumed would happen have fell apart,” added the spy.
