Designer Charlie Le Mindu shocks London Fashion Week by having his models on the catwalk sans clothes

Though no stranger to controversy, designer Charlie Le Mindu has managed to cause quite a fuss once more, taking London Fashion Week by surprise by putting on the catwalk models in wigs, hats, shoes – and little else.

One thing that could justify Mindu’s choice of clothes for his models (or lack thereof, more likely) would be that he was showing his latest collection of wigs, therefore clothes were not essential.

Still, not even that was enough for the most prude members of the audience, as they literally did not know where to look anymore as the show began, the Daily Mail says.

“Dressed” in pink platform boots, with mismatched handbags and wearing the most outrageous wigs and hats (it’s no wonder Le Mindu is among Lady Gaga’s favorite designers), the models strutted on the catwalk in their most “natural” state.

However, this is not the first time the designer causes a stir, the Mail says, though it is a first in terms of doing so with the London Fashion Week.

“French-born Le Mindu, his real name, launched his label just a year ago but has managed to grab plenty of headlines, and not just for his outlandish headgear which has included wigs in the shape of the Eiffel Tower,” the Mail writes.

“At last year’s Fashion Week, he unveiled a full face headdress made of real mice and rat carcasses, outraging animal rights activists,” the publication further says.

“His latest creations are not the most practical with some, including a bizarre leopard-print teddy bear headdress, covering the model’s entire face,” the British tab writes.

“Born in deepest rural France, he studied hairdressing at Vidal Sassoon and Toni & Guy before turning to wigs and opening a studio in trendy Shoreditch in East London where he is now based,” the Mail further informs.

Le Mindu is not the first designer to go for semi-naked women to model his creations on the catwalk, albeit no one before him dared to go to such lengths.

As we also informed you in July this year, Patrick Mohr took Berlin Fashion Week by complete surprise as well, choosing to have his creations showcased by bearded and bald female women, most of them sans clothes from the waist up.

Granted, he was presenting clothes – unlike Le Mindu – but the latter’s stunt still comes across as the most shocking to some.
