Charlie Hunnam’s career in Hollywood is really taking off after his take on Jax Teller in FX’s hit series “Sons of Anarchy” was embraced by fans and critics alike: with 3 big movies coming up, he’s also secured the lead in a fourth, which was initially supposed to be played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

It’s been a while since Cumberbatch was confirmed for “The Lost of City of Z,” a Plan B production overseen by Brad Pitt, who was rumored at one point to make an appearance in it as well. However, given that Cumberbatch agreed to do “Doctor Strange” for Marvel, he decided to drop out.

The studio didn’t waste time in coming up with a replacement, so Hunnam was signed to play British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett, who goes on a journey to find a mysterious city in the Amazon and disappears, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

He will be seen opposite Sienna Miller and “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson. James Gray will direct and MICA Entertainment will finance.

The film is now in pre-production, with the studio gunning for a 2016 release. That same year, Hunnam will land his own franchise, playing King Arthur in “Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur,” directed by Guy Ritchie.

In 2017, Hunnam has “The Mountain Between Us” coming out, but until then, we will see him this year in “Crimson Peak,” directed by Guillermo del Toro, with whom he worked first on “Pacific Rim.”
